- Generally more motivated and happy employees
With these advantages in mind, there are tons of options when it comes to booking a company trip. With never ending beaches and various excursions, it can be difficult to know what you’re looking for. Hence, we have narrowed down the search and come up with a list of the best places as per our recommendation to go on a company trip.
Laya Leisure – Kukuleganga
When speaking of the Laya group, overall they have various other outlets in different locations within the country. However, in this article we will be focusing on Laya Leisure as they have a wide variety of activities that they offer. Approximately 2 hours’ drive from the heart of Colombo – this is an ideal location in terms of place and number of activities. The lodging includes comfortable villas and apartments depending on your selection criteria.
The number of activities provided by this group is staggering in terms of leisurely activities from archery to pony rides as well as the casual BBQ by the pool. They even have mountain biking trails along the countryside! What more could you ask for? Laya Leisure is the ideal place to relax, build team spirit and have a fun experience.
Lake View Comfort Bungalow
If you want to escape the heat, Nuwara Eliya is the place to be. However the only downside is the 5 hour journey. They offer modern luxury apartments within their complex, with picturesque views of the famous Gregory Lake. There are also breathtaking views of Mount Pedro or commonly known as “Pidurutalagala”. It is known to be Sri Lanka’s tallest mountain with a peak of 2,524 m (8,281 ft.).
Other than the stunning views, there are few key features the property has to offer such as BBQ on request, boat rides and horse rides. If that doesn’t quench you and your team’s ambition, there are plenty of events during specific seasons that take place near the lake like 4×4 mud races and jet-ski & kayak races.
Ranmin Bellair Bungalows
Surrounded by a rubber Estate, Ranmin Bellair bungalow is a building that has a history of 120 years with renovations. Being 2 hours and 30 minutes away from Colombo, it is surrounded by many fruit bearing trees such as rumbutan, coconut and mangoes.
An iconic feature of the property is its infinity pool overlooking the estate scenery. In addition to the charming views they also have facilities to have a BBQ night. If you are a bit of an adventurer why not take a wild dip into one of the many natural pools located 2 to 3 kilometers away.
During the beginning of the year, we at team Omentra had visited Ranmin Bellair and have high praise for their premises. We mainly enjoyed the experience provided overall such as the hygiene standards as well as the facilities such as the spacious BBQ area, the pool table and who could forget the glorious infinity pool.
Ranmin Bellair isn’t their only set of luxury getaways resorts. They also have nearly 6 other resort locations inclusive of Ranmin Bellair with more locations launching soon. Some would include as far as Nuwara Eliya and others being as close as Dampe (approximately and hour away from Colombo).
South Point Ocean (near Galle)
Another great place to visit would be the South Point Ocean situated along the coast near Galle. Located around 2 hours and 30 minutes away from Colombo, with its coastline there are many activities that involve the beach such as fishing, snorkeling and surfing. However, they also host a few different activities such as elephant for the day, yoga and culinary classes. In comparison, South Point Ocean has the added value of actually learning a new skill. These classes may not relate in sense of work. However, this is a form of team building in terms of growing together and working as a team to create something new.
Water rafting in Kitulagala
In comparison to the other suggestions, the journey to Kitulgala is slightly longer. It would take approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes. Coming back to the point, if your team is up for thrills and adventures, why not try one of the many activities such as; confidence jumps, white water rafting, stream slides and others. Also, if you want to step it up a bit further, ever considered camping overnight in the rain forest?
But if you’re not into any of the above mentioned activities you can always go bird watching or walking and cycling along trails.
Though this may not fall under the category of bungalows and villas, we based this choice solely on the number of outdoor activities and in terms of team building activities.
Jie Jie Beach by Jetwing
Dialing it back a bit for those who just want to relax by the beach with a margarita or take a dip into the sea or pool, whilst enjoying live music and karaoke in the background, Jie Jie beach is the ideal place. With your standard hotel amenities and views, another perk of this hotel is being extremely close to Colombo, roughly around 1 hour and 45 minutes. You and your colleagues can enjoy this wonderful little hotel over an evening and be back home in next to no time.
So, there you have it! Those are our recommendations for some places where you can plan your next office trip. Leave us your comments, if you feel like we missed any places.
